Must-Read Books for Your Next Road Trip
As many of you know, I’ve always been an avid reader. Ever since I can remember, I was that kid with a book in hand—reading on the school bus long before it was cool. Now with things like #Bookstagram and #BookTok, I’ve found my people and don’t feel quite so nerdy anymore.
As a homeschool mom, it brings me so much joy to pass that love of reading on to my kids. I secretly smiled the other night when I had to tell my daughter to put her book down and go to sleep.
Over the past few years, I’ve set reading goals—67 books one year, 62 the next—and this year I’m aiming for 72. I don’t discriminate—audiobooks totally count. There’s something magical about a long drive paired with a great story.
I thought I’d share some of my recent favorites with you—books that made me think, laugh, cry, and stay up way too late reading.
Business/Self Improvement Books
Let Them by Mel Robbins
In her signature empowering style, Mel Robbins delivers a transformative message: you can't control other people's actions, but you can control your response. This short yet powerful book teaches you to stop wasting energy trying to fix, change, or manage others—and instead, reclaim your peace. Let them do what they do. You do you.
Building a Non-Anxious Life by Dr. John Delony
In a world overloaded with screens, noise, and stress, Dr. John Delony helps us reconnect with what really matters: community, rest, purpose, and peace. This book is a guide to living intentionally, drawing clear boundaries, and finding calm in chaos by choosing connection over isolation. It's a wake-up call to build a life your body and soul can actually thrive in.
The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan with Dr. Benjamin Hardy
This mindset-shifting book flips your view of success on its head. Instead of measuring yourself by the gap between where you are and where you want to be, Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy show you how to live in the gain—appreciating the progress you've made. A favorite for high-achievers, this book rewires how you track success, celebrate growth, and find joy in the journey.
Psychological Thrillers
The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden
One of my favorite authors, and once again, Freida McFadden did not disappoint! This psychological thriller is packed with suspense, twists, and jaw-dropping moments that kept me guessing all the way to the end. Just when you think you have it figured out—think again. An addictive page-turner!
One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware
Your first read from Ruth Ware—and it was a hit! One Perfect Couple blends the intrigue of a thriller with the charm of a romance, all set against the backdrop of a reality TV show gone wrong. It starts deceptively light, but quickly spirals into a twisty, suspenseful read that keeps the pages turning.
Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera
If you're a podcast lover, this one hits all the right notes. Listen for the Lie is a clever murder mystery told through podcast episodes and narration, making it feel immersive and modern. The ending leaves just enough unanswered to hope for a sequel—fingers crossed!
Romance
Happy Place by Emily Henry
Emily Henry does it again! Happy Place made me swoon from start to finish. The emotional tension, the longing, and the undeniable chemistry had me rooting so hard for the couple. A bittersweet, beautiful story about love, timing, and choosing each other—over and over.
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Light, funny, and impossible to put down — this is the perfect beach or vacation read! Fake dating, bad luck, and forced proximity make for laugh-out-loud moments and sweet romance. It's the kind of book you can breeze through by the pool and finish with a big smile on your face.
