I am Enough and You Are Too!
Like many women, I often feel like I’m not enough. I’m not a good enough mom, a good enough wife. I’m not smart enough, strong enough, the list goes on…
I recently took a trip that was transformational (more on that later) but there were many speakers that talked about YOU are enough, YOU are what other people need to hear. They want to hear your stories and you can inspire them to move forward in their own journey.
I even got a tattoo to commemorate this revelation that I am enough, sometimes you just need to see it written there in black and white to remind you of that simple message.
And that is what I am doing today for you, to be your reminder that you ae enough, your story is important and writing and sharing that with others can help them in more ways then you may ever know.
Lately, my writing has been inconsistent as life—work, kids, and travel—keeps pulling me in different directions. But I’m making it a priority to get back to my weekly newsletters so I can continue sharing valuable insights with those who are following along.
Here are some tips for building consistency and habits, inspired by some of my favorite books on the subject. Whether it’s writing, fitness, or business, developing strong habits is essential for long-term success.
1. Habit Stacking (Atomic Habits)
Attach your new habit to an existing one to make it easier to remember and implement.
Example: If you want to write consistently, stack it with your morning coffee: “After I make my coffee, I will write for 10 minutes.”
2. The 2-Minute Rule (Atomic Habits)
Make your habit so easy that you can’t fail.
Example: Instead of aiming to write for an hour, start with just two minutes. Once you get started, momentum will carry you forward.
3. Identity-Based Habits (Atomic Habits)
Instead of focusing on outcomes, focus on who you want to become.
Example: Rather than saying, “I want to be a consistent writer,” say, “I am a writer who publishes weekly.” This shift reinforces consistency.
4. Use an Accountability Partner (The Power of Habit)
Find someone who will check in on you or create a public commitment.
Example: Announce that you’ll send a newsletter every Friday—this external pressure helps with consistency.
5. Track Your Progress (Atomic Habits)
Keep a calendar or use an app to track streaks of completed habits. I love the app Habit Tracker.
Example: Mark an “X” on the calendar each day you write—seeing the streak will motivate you to keep going.
6. Set Up Rewards and Consequences (Tiny Habits)
Reward yourself when you complete your habit and set minor consequences if you don’t.
Example: After finishing your writing for the week, treat yourself to something small (a fancy coffee, an episode of your favorite show). A great example I have seen is when fellow masterminder, James Curran, said he would have to wear a dress on camera if he didn’t post a short every day for a year!
Building habits and staying consistent isn’t about being perfect—it’s about making progress. Small, daily actions add up over time, and even when you miss a day, what matters most is getting back on track. Focus on the process rather than perfection, and remember that consistency, no matter how small, will always move you closer to your goals. Keep showing up, keep improving, and trust that the effort you put in today will pay off in the long run.
I’d love to hear what habit you’re focusing on this week—feel free to reply and share!
